I know I'm supposed to like the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , the classic Raymond Loewy design. I've seen a few of them in the metal and even sat in one. To me the front end is ... unfortunate. The C pillar sweeps forward when it should sweep back. The side mirrors are in the wrong place, the trunk lid juts out at the top, spoiling the lines, the tail lights are too small ... need I go on?

So here's the question - what car design do you dislike that pretty much everyone else says is stunning?

It gives me zero fizzies in the pants.

It's like that chick that should be hot on paper, but just isn't.

I don't like Avanti very much either. Another one would be Fisker Karma.

I HATE the Lamborghini Diablo... It just looks so bland to me. But I do love the Studebaker Avanti.. so :P

I'm with you on the Avanti, though the one like that aren't as bad as the ones with square headlight surrounds to my eyes. For me it's some of the Bugattis. I know they are widely appreciated but to me this looks like the car of the Ambiguously Gay Duo.

I wanted to like it - then saw one in the metal on the Upper East Side and yeah, it doesn't quite work, especially with the Tesla Model S as competition. Well, it was the Tesla's competition.

It's mostly people outside of Oppo (but a surprising number of you guys too...) but it seems that the universal consensus is that the fifth gen camaro looks amazing and is so sleek . Truth be told, I think it's one of the fugliest piece of shit designs in the last several decades, and the ugliest Camaro since the '74-'78 "goblin nose" front bumper design.

Amen on the Avanti, I don't like Karmas as well.

The convertible looked better though. The Model S looks great but I can't really bring myself to say I like electric car.

There is one this exact color that lives a few houses down from me. I feel exactly the same.

It has grown on me but when it first came out I thought it was ugly too. At the time I thought Carson GT Concept from Burnout Paradise was better looking. (I still don't think the GT Concept looks bad)

I think it's not the best they could have done, although it looks better than it photographs in my opinion. As with the Challenger, the redesigned car manages to look less sleek than the 60s, 70s version. It looks heavy, where it's predecessor looked lighter. That is as close as I can come to expressing the difference. On balance, I think the Challenger is a bit more true to the original.

Pretty much agree with all this.

The ZL1 isn't so bad, because the scoops, lowering, and knowledge of its power helps hide the bulk a bit. It also helps that the front fascia isn't solid across (the black front lip hides it's height).

I think the 1972 Camaro is the best looking camaro, personally.

Oh - forgot the throwback Mustang. Nice cues taken from the original, but overweight. AND the failure to make the rear suspension independent (which will interfere with the looks when you pitch it into a corner and it plows ahead and you have a head-on collision. Or snap oversteer puts you into a hedge.

I think it's like one of those catchy pop songs - it's not that it is good, but the fact that it is unusual. Just like you can listen to an odd piece of music but you wouldn't want to listen to a whole album of songs like that, looking at an Avanti is an interesting experience but you wouldn't want more cars on the road looking like it.

I loved the '69 - as I tiny child I dragged my dad over to a row of brand new Camaros and pointed out one in the color he like (frost green, although he was color-blind). Then he went into Jack Amatucci Chevrolet and ordered another Impala. With black vinyl. With no A/C. In DC. I'm still bitter.

Holy shit - I forgot about this thing:

Kinja'd!!!

Walking near 6th Avenue when I saw my first one. A buddy (drives a 3 series) was with me. Did someone drop an E-class on its roof? Gunslit windows? Awkward rear end, less headroom ... are you kidding me? I have softened on the 2nd gen redesign and admit that that car doesn't look too bad in AMG trim. But there are so many alternatives that are so much better looking for that sort of money.

Personally, I love the Avanti, but I believe the design didn't look totally right until the 1980s facelift when it got the rectangular headlights.

For me, I would say the Nissan Juke. Everyone keeps babbling on and on about how we should be happy something so weird could be built and appreciate it for its oddness, but to me it's just plain ugly.

I would drive it to the crusher myself .... horrid. Awful stance, overlarge grill, probably no headroom in the back seat, nor much more in the front. And what are those 3 pipes in the front - exhaust? Which by definition comes from the back? And the wheels copied from BMW's worst, and the cutline that doesn't finish (top of the doors). And those openings at the front that make it look like it's frowning. And what is probably a useless tailgate, boot. I can do this for another hour if anyone gives a shit ....

Did that actually go to production? Have seen the sedan (which I personally like) in person, but never a convertible…kinda looks like a melted Maserati!

I don't know that it LOOKS bad….but it is friction' HUGE and is like driving a bathtub (had a GF who worked at a dealership and scored us a convertible one weekend)
